More than a daycare
Craig and I have two children (5yr old – pre-k program & 8 yr old summer camp/drop in programs) who have both attended Kids r Kids for the last 4 years. Because my children spend most of their day in the care of others, I want to make sure that they are in a safe and caring environment, as close to a family atmosphere as possible. I have found this at Kids r Kids. The staff at Kids r Kids are caring, helpful, understanding of my children’s needs/personalities, approachable and work with the parents to make sure that the daycare experience is positive for both the parents and children. Learning is a combined with having fun. The owners John and Elwin West are wonderful people. Recently my family went through a tough time because of an accident and the West’s were there to lend support to my family. Kids r Kids is more than just a daycare, it is an extension of our family.

Kids R Kids – An Excellent School and Much More
Our 3-year old son has been at Kids R Kids for a little over a year now and the school continues to exceed our expectations in numerous areas. The owners emphasize not only the development of the children, but also continuing education for the teachers, and community building amongst the families, staff, and teachers. We initially chose Kids R Kids based on a combination of its proximity to our home, the layout and cleanliness of the facility, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and teachers, and the video cameras that enabled us to view our son real-time via the internet. Our primary concern at that time was that our son be in a safe, clean, pleasant environment where his individual needs were addressed in a patient, loving, and creative manner. The Kids R Kids team provided all of the above in addition to an age appropriate academic curriculum, socialization opportunities, and successful potty training. As a 3-year old our son’s curriculum now includes not only learning in the classroom but visits to the local library every other week, field trips, and nature walks. In response to parent input, Kids R Kids has partnered with local providers to offer specialty classes such as dance, karate, and basketball on-site giving children who are there all day opportunities to broaden their horizons similar to children who stay at home with parents. We were further impressed to learn that Kids R Kids has implemented numerous corporate development concepts to facilitate continuous improvement amongst the teachers and staff. This includes educational assistance and continuing education programs as well as various teambuilding activities. We have also appreciated the opportunities Kids R Kids has offered to facilitate parent involvement and an overall sense of community. We have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know other parents, teachers, and staff better at classroom parties, holiday luncheons, the annual fall festival, PTA meetings, and various evening programs and activities. When we first came to Kids R Kids we were simply looking for quality daycare. What we found was excellence in care, education, and much more.

My son loves it
We really love Kids R Kids. Being new to the area, we were looking for a business that had a family oriented environment. Well, we hit a homerun here. Our son started here when he was 2 years old and his transition was better than expected. His instructors kindly welcome him daily as they engage him in his classroom lessons of the day. Our little boy has been attending for nearly a year and he is still excited to go to school everyday. He also enjoys his time spent with all of his friends and instructors. Kids R Kids has a creative, nurturing environment and the kids absolutely love to be here. We have personally witnessed the growth in our son’s ability to: site alphabets / words / colors, creatively think, logically reason, spell (his name), and yes, he is even completely potty trained. In addition, our relationships with the instructors and staff are exceptional. They are always willing to listen, support, and make accommodations as applicable. Hugged first, then taught
I just wanted to take this time to share with you the wonderful experience we have been having with Kids R Kids. Coming from a traditional and conservative family, my husband and I were apprehensive of putting our daughter in toddler programs. I quit my job to take care of my daughter after she was born. As she was nearing 2 years old, we thought it would be a good time to put her in a program. We visited several schools around the city and were truly impressed with the teachers and the ambience of your school. The teachers genuinely take care of the kids. Our daughter Niranjana adjusted to the new environment in a week and a half. Throughout the time the teachers were very accommodative to her outbursts and did their best to make her feel at home - from cajoling to playing pranks to carrying her around the playground. No wonder that my daughter has now become a big fan of her school in less than a month and a half. She just loves her teachers Ms. Maritza, Miss Terri, and Ms. Erika. It is not just that the kids go through the transition. It was particularly difficult for me as well. I wasn`t sure if this is the right decision or the right time. The support and encouragement I received from you and the office staff was incredible and helped a lot in my transition. The sharing was personal and heartfelt. Your teachers were accommodative to our unique diet requests and the flexibility of timings as well. When my daughter came back from the first day at school, she remarked that the teachers gave her huggies and kisses. You guys truly follow your motto of `Hugged first, then taught`.

KRK- Our extended family
I am writing to tell you about our experiences at Kids R Kids. We started bringing our 1st daughter there when she was 10 months old, in 2004. We could tell right away that this place was different. Not a daycare, but a true learning center, with a curriculum. Right from the beginning your teachers started working with her on all development levels, teaching her sign language, Spanish, enforcing manners, and providing a true nurturing environment in which to learn. She was constantly learning! She has always been very close to all of her teachers, and everyone in the whole BUILDING (not just her teachers) knew her by first name. That`s just the type of culture you will find there. We were delighted with her progress as she moved up through the classrooms, . She was reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at age 4. By Pre-K, in Miss Crystal`s class, she was learning to read, and had light homework to prepare her for Kindergarten. I am thrilled to relay to you that at her most recent assessment by her current Kindergarten teacher, she was at a Level 6 for reading, when the majority of her classmates were at a Level 2 or 3, (which is where they are expected to be.) Level 6! We owe a large thank you to Kids R Kids! In the Fall of 2009, we enrolled our second daughter at Kids R Kids. Our second has some minor developmental delays due to her severe prematurity, and we were a little nervous of how she would `fit in` with children younger than her, since that`s where she fits developmentally. We have to say that your staff blew us away (once again). Not only do we feel so blessed that she has such warm, loving teachers, but she is developing marvelously. What else can a parent ask for?!We initially expressed our concerns to the teachers in suites 200 and 250 about her aversion to food, and they consistently and diligently worked with her on every bite, every single day. All while taking care of the needs of the other children! After a lot of hard work and consistency with the help of your staff, she is now FINALLY eating `real` food. This didn`t come easily, and has been one of the biggest challenges for us due to her being underweight since birth. Every day, they would give us detailed explanations of what she ate, how much, and what her attitude was at the time towards the food given. I am eternally grateful to the KRK teachers for listening, taking this issue so seriously, and ultimately helping us achieve our goal of gettting our little girl to eat! Thank you, ladies!!! We are grateful! Our first daughter now goes to KRK for afterschool care, and absolutely loves it. When I pick her up at the end of the day, she NEVER wants to leave-that`s a tribute to the loving teachers. We will continue to keep our second enrolled as well, as long as we live in Austin. KRK is like an extended family to us. We trust them to play an initimate role in taking care of our precious little girls. Being a long time customer, and seeing first hand how happy my children are there, I wouldn`t want them to be taken care of by anyone else. Thank you for making us feel that our daughters are safe and happy while we work to provide for our family.

Ideal school for our 3 daughters
Our family has been a loyal customer of Kids R Kids at Avery Ranch for almost 5 years now. Our 3 daughters, ranging from 16 months to 6 ½ years old, absolutely love coming to school and sometimes even ask to go on “stay at home” days. They feel comfortable, loved and safe. Ms. Elwin and her staff have gone out of their way to help our family by continuing to pick our oldest daughter up from her school even though she is the only KRK after-schooler from that elementary. They have also helped us with transportation to insure that our middle daughter is able to attend her speech class to better prepare her for kindergarten next year.
